Manufacturing Engineer

Descripción y detalle de las actividades

1. Responsibility for three main areas:
a) Assembly of mechanical, electrical, structural and propulsion system components
b) Tooling and Fixturing; for parts, subassemblies, and final assembly
c) Error-proofing of responsible processes in the assembly of the A5
2. Primarily interface between the A5 production team and ICON’s design engineers to improve the aircraft manufacturability, safety, cost, delivery, quality and lead time
3. Identify and implement solutions on the A5 production process using the following manufacturing best practices: lean/TPS tools and culture, six-sigma, global sourcing, rapid-prototyping, fixturing and error-proofing
4. The manufacturing engineering development includes:
a) Simplification of assembly processes on the production shop floor
b) Design and development of jigs, fixtures and tooling for product assembly
c) Supplier development and program management of appropriate component and sub-assembly suppliers
d) Design of assembly processes using lean methods, minimizing wasteful operations and maximizing value
5. Input into the development of accurate bill of material costing and cost reduction activities using DFM/DFA methods
6. Lead risk mitigation activities using techniques such as PFMEAs
7. Manage the development of capital equipment specifications, financial justification, purchasing, design, build, installation and run-off of the equipment
8. Root cause analysis of issues in production and assembly using a structured format
9. Lead the development of modified or alternative components, manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment required for the manufacture, assembly, and testing of the various components and sub-assemblies
10. Oversee the establishment of design constraints and supplier specifications
11. Maintain awareness of suppliers’ latest technology and newest manufacturing approaches and provide guidance to manufacturing and product engineering for existing products
