Work with molding plant to improve tool management, maintenance, and damage prevention with focus on valves, swing joints, and rotors at the Nogales molding facility.
Focus on sustaining existing tools to drive proactive quality improvements by addressing aging or problematic tooling and improving tool condition.
This position will work directly in the Nogales molding facility and collaborate with other engineering and molding functions.
Collaborate with product and project engineering groups on changed or new tooling.
Work closely with outside mold makers and in house mold shop to ensure mold improvements and maintenance results in molds capable of producing high quality parts.
BS Degree in an Engineering discipline
Hands on mold and process troubleshooting and mold maintenance practices
Knowledge of mold design practices and plastic injection mold processing
Working knowledge of plastic and elastomeric materials
Bilingual – English, Spanish
Experience developing complex mold tooling (side actions, hot runner systems, unwinds..) on schedule for production of high quality, low cost, high volume components
6+ years of hands-on experience involving specification, procurement, and qualification of molds for injection molded components
Proficient with the use of SPC, DOE, Six Sigma techniques, and capability studies
Manage tool design, fabrication, process development, and qualification at the supplier
Knowledge of mold qualification processes, metrology, and gaging
Knowledge and use of CNC, grinding, milling, EDM equipment
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, Project)
Ability to perform financial analysis and cost justifications
Well organized, enthusiastic, high energy, strong work ethic
Proficient in the use of CAD 2D and 3D modeling (SolidWorks) and mold flow analysis
Experience with molds for PVC parts
Experience selecting and qualifying domestic and overseas mold makers
