Descripción y detalle de las actividades

Purpose of the role

The Chief Financial Officer holds end-to-end responsibility for the financial management, control and compliance of the entire group, not solely the Mexicali operation. The role combines group-level financial leadership with genuine hands-on ownership of the numbers.

The key objective of the role is efficient capital management in a growing business. The CFO owns forecasting, return on capital invested, margin management and working capital control, and is accountable to the Board for the disciplines that fund growth while protecting group liquidity.

This is a role for someone who wants to help build a business rather than administer one. The group intends to grow materially in North America over the coming years, and the CFO will be central to how that growth is funded, priced, measured and defended to the Board and to lenders.

Experiencia y requisitos

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting or Public Accounting (Licenciatura en Contaduría Pública) or equivalent.
  • Currently certified as a Contador Público Certificado (CPC), US Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant, or equivalent recognised professional qualification in good standing.
  • Detailed working knowledge of US GAAP, which is the group reporting standard, together with sufficient command of Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (NIF) to take responsibility for the Mexican entity’s statutory accounts and to reconcile between the two.
  • Demonstrated strength in capital allocation, cash flow management and working capital control in a growing business. This will be tested closely at interview.
  • Experience supporting a business through growth or capacity expansion: building the financial case for investment, funding it, and holding the business to the returns promised.
  • Proven ability to present at Board level: concise, credible, and able to defend the numbers under direct challenge from directors and lenders rather than taking questions away.
  • A track record of meeting a fixed reporting calendar (weekly cash, monthly close, budget and reforecast) without slippage.
  • Substantial experience in a manufacturing business or environment, with genuine command of standard costing, inventory control and plant cost analysis.
  • Direct experience of the Mexican IMMEX / maquiladora regime and its accounting, inventory control, VAT certification and transfer pricing consequences, including working through a shelter or administrative services provider.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency group, including consolidation and intercompany accounting.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, written and spoken, with English to a standard sufficient for Board-level reporting and negotiation with lenders and investors.
  • Advanced financial modelling and Excel capability, and practical ERP experience.
  • Able to be based in Mexicali and present onsite at the plant.
