Failure Analysis Engineer

We are seeking an engineer with extensive hands-on experience in failure analysis to lead investigations of high-speed connectors, cable assemblies, and electromechanical products. You will be responsible for identifying the root cause of field, qualification, and production failures, and driving corrective and preventive actions with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead failure analysis for field returns, qualification failures, production defects, and development issues
• Define the problem statement, investigation plan, and test sequence (from non-destructive to destructive), while preserving evidence
• Perform or coordinate electrical, mechanical, dimensional, and materials analyses: optical microscopy, X-ray/CT, metrology, cross-sections, metallography, SEM/EDS
• Identify and confirm failure mechanisms in contacts, coatings, corrosion, solder joints, cables, terminal retention, molded housings, and manufacturing variation
• Differentiate failure mode, root cause, and process escape point—validating with data and physical evidence
• Track corrective and preventive actions with Design, Product, Quality, Manufacturing, Reliability, Test, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
• Prepare clear, well-supported technical reports, and present findings to both customers and technical/non-technical stakeholders
• Develop laboratory methods and work instructions, and train engineers and technicians at global sites
• Ensure laboratory safety, calibration, sample traceability, and data integrity
