The Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing facility in Mexicali, ensuring efficient production, regulatory compliance, and adherence to quality standards within a GMP-regulated
environment. This role requires hands-on leadership of a small team and technical expertise in injection molding, extrusion, and film blowing processes, along with experience utilizing manufacturing software systems to drive operational efficiency and data visibility. Bilingual proficiency is a must.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations including production, maintenance, quality, and logistics
- Ensure production targets, cost controls, and efficiency metrics are achieved
- Implement Lean manufacturing
- Coordinate scheduling, materials planning
Technical Manufacturing Oversight
- Manage and optimize processes including:
- Injection molding
- Extrusion
- Film blowing
- Troubleshoot production issues
- Ensure preventive maintenance programs
Manufacturing Systems & Software
- Utilize and manage manufacturing software platforms such as:
- ERP systems
- MRP systems for production planning and inventory control
- monitor KPIs
Regulatory & Compliance (Mexico)
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory frameworks:
- Environmental regulations
- Workplace safety standards
- GMP requirements
- Manage and maintain required permits
- Environmental Impact Assessments
- Waste management
- Fire risk and safety compliance studies
- Interface with regulatory agencies
- Quality & GMP Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices
- Maintain traceability
- Collaborate with QA
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and develop a small team
- Promote a culture of safety
- Ensure compliance with labor laws
Health, Safety & Environmental
- Implement and enforce safety programs
- Ensure compliance with NOM standards
- Maintain emergency response
Administrative & Reporting
- Manage budgets, KPIs
- Coordinate with corporate leadership
- Oversee vendor relationships
Experiencia y requisitos
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field (preferred)
Experience
- 5–8 years of manufacturing experience
- 2–4 years in a supervisory or management role
- Experience in plastic manufacturing processes :
- Injection molding
- Extrusion
- Film blowing
- Experience operating within a GMP-certified facility
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP/MES systems in a manufacturing environment
Regulatory Experience
- Proven experience with:
- Environmental permitting and compliance in Mexico
- SEMARNAT regulations and reporting
- STPS safety standards
- Waste management and emissions compliance
- Experience preparing for audits and regulatory inspections
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Technical problem-solving in plastics manufacturing
- Proficiency in manufacturing software (ERP, MRP, MES)
- Knowledge of Mexican regulatory and compliance frameworks
- Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma mindset (preferred)
- Bilingual (Spanish required, English preferred)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Data-driven decision-making using production systems

- Production efficiency and uptime
- Scrap and yield improvement
- System accuracy (inventory, production reporting, traceability)
