The Process Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and supporting robust assembly and manufacturing processes during production line transfers and sustaining activities. The role focuses on deep
process understanding and execution, ensuring stable, repeatable, and capable production for power connectors and cable assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, document, and release assembly and manufacturing processes during production line transfer
- Support the Engineering Manager in defining assembly process flow, station content, and technical requirements
- Develop and standardize press and applicator setup parameters
- Execute and document crimp validation activities (crimp height, pull force, microsections)
- Provide technical support during line ramp-up and sustaining production
- Troubleshoot process-related issues such as crimp defects, gaps, deformation, and assembly variation
- Support cycle time optimization and line balancing from a process capability perspective
- Provide technical input and countermeasures to Operations-owned PFMEA and Control Plans
- Support rework method development and validation from a process standpoint
- Participate in sample builds, First Article, and transfer validation activities
Scope & Authority:
- Technical ownership of manufacturing process definition during line transfer
- Authority to recommend and implement process improvements within approved design and process boundaries
Success Metrics:
- Process stability during and after line transfer
- Reduction of process-related defects and rework
- Crimp capability and consistency
- Ramp-up performance and issue closure time
Experiencia y requisitos
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering (connectors or cable assemblies preferred)
- Hands-on experience with crimping processes and press/applicator setup
- Experience supporting production line ramp-up or transfers
Desired Skills & Attributes:
- Strong understanding of power cable and terminal crimping
- Experience with high-current connectors and cable assemblies
- Practical knowledge of process capability and SPC
- Hands-on, shop-floor oriented mindset
- Structured problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, global teams
