Needle Design & Engineering
- Design curved suturing needles (taper point, reverse cutting, specialty profiles).
- Define key geometric features: tip radius, facet angles, edge symmetry, curvature.
- Balance penetration force, drag, and edge durability for clinical use cases.
- Convert surgeon and clinical feedback into measurable engineering requirements.
- Define and support test methods for penetration force, drag, and edge retention.
Materials & Metallurgy
- Select and specify metallic materials (e.g., stainless steel needle alloys).
- Define cold working, annealing, and heat‑treatment strategies to achieve target mechanical properties.
- Control hardness, ductility, toughness, and grain structure for performance and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with material suppliers to establish performance‑based specifications.
Manufacturing Technology & Industrialization
- Develop needle designs compatible with high‑volume manufacturing.
- Support and optimize forming, stamping, grinding, and edge‑creation processes.
- Define electropolishing, passivation, and surface‑finishing requirements.
- Support application of silicone or friction‑reduction coatings.
- Partner with manufacturing engineering to improve capability, yield, and consistency.
- Support automation and reduction of operator‑dependent variability.
Experiencia y requisitos
Professional Experience
- 8–12+ years of experience in surgical needle design, development, or manufacturing.
- Proven background supporting high‑volume precision manufacturing environments.
- Advanced English
- Willingness to travel to the USA
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of needle geometry, sharpness mechanics, and tissue interaction.
- Hands‑on experience working with metallic materials and heat‑treatment processes.
Industry Knowledge
- Familiarity with regulated medical device development environments and applicable standards.
