Job Summary
Coordinate and implement all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) related site activities, including, but not limited to, programs, site equipment, metrics, written procedures, and employee training, to ensure compliance with all existing local and national EHS regulations, and ICU Medical Systems and Procedures Policies.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Provide a facility management function for the site to ensure that the plant, equipment, and general facilities are kept in good order, in good repair, and in efficient operation to meet the demands of medical device manufacturing.
- Ensure that planned maintenance activities for the building, building services teams, and facilities are implemented effectively.
- Lead and coordinate a team of maintenance and facilities technicians.
- Support the site coordinator and site teams with EHS projects and initiatives and act as the site safety officer in accordance with corporate guidelines.
- Maintain site security to protect Smiths Medical employees, visitors, and intellectual property.
- Develops and implements, as required, site-specific regulations, systems, or environmental safety education programs related to risk to Smiths employees (managers and employees) involving the workplace, home and community.
- Trains and engages the site safety committee, line supervisor, and other employees with specific EHS responsibilities. "Walk the floor" to ensure two-way communication with employees and supervision, provides advice, information, suggestions, and ideas for improving EHS issues and practices, and ensuring behavior-based safety is part of work practices. Acts as a resource for site EHS teams (fire wardens, spill team, emergency response team, Safety Committee, etc.) and site management. Coordinates and/or provides EHS training to educate employees on safety policies, EHS regulations, best practices, and procedures.
Experiencia y requisitos
Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in medical device manufacturing or pharmaceuticals.
- 10+ years of experience in Environmental Management Systems and Medical Device Regulatory Compliance (ISO 14001, 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, NOM-241).
- 10+ years of experience in the maintenance of environmental management systems
- Proven experience in EHS, on-site services, utilities and waste management and the knowledge gained in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Proven environmental compliance and control experience. Preference will be given to candidates with professional health, safety, and environmental qualifications.
- Trained as an ISO-14001:2004 In-House Leader
- Experience as an in-house leader on ISO 19011 and ISO 14000
- Strong computer skills are required, including Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- English fluency and Spanish language skills
- Effective presentation skills.
- Be certified as a Leader of ISO-14001 or similar related areas.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal laws, rules, regulations, and records and their use in the areas of health and the environment Knowledge of international agreements.
- Technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis, Communication capabilities at all levels.
- Computer skills.
