The Tax Supervisor is responsible for leading the company’s tax function, ensuring full compliance with Mexican tax regulations and corporate requirements, while proactively managing tax risks and supporting practical tax planning aligned with business operations.
This role oversees tax compliance, tax accounting, audits, and transfer pricing matters, acting as the main point of contact with tax authorities (SAT, IMSS, INFONAVIT), external auditors, and corporate finance teams. The position also ensures readiness for audits and supports critical areas such as VAT recoveries and intercompany operations.
1. Tax Compliance Leadership
- Oversee preparation and filing of all federal and local tax returns (ISR, VAT, withholdings).
- Ensure timely tax payments and full compliance with statutory obligations.
- Review and approve tax filings prepared by the team.
2. Tax Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure accurate tax accounting, including current taxes and deferred tax positions.
- Review reconciliations of tax accounts (VAT, ISR, withholdings).
- Support reporting aligned with corporate requirements (US GAAP basis where applicable).
3. Tax Strategy & Cash Flow Focus
- Monitor tax impact on cash flow, including VAT recoveries and provisional payments.
- Support tax planning aligned with operational reality (purchases, inventory, intercompany).
- Identify risks and propose practical mitigation actions.
4. Audit & Authority Management
- Lead tax audits and requirements from SAT, IMSS, INFONAVIT.
- Coordinate responses and documentation for audits (internal and external).
- Act as main contact with external auditors (KPMG/EY) for tax-related matters.
5. Transfer Pricing & Intercompany
- Ensure compliance with transfer pricing requirements.
- Support APA processes and intercompany transaction reviews.
- Monitor tax implications of intercompany operations.
Experiencia y requisitos
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).
- 5–8 years of experience in tax (Big 4 is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws (ISR, VAT, CFF).
- Experience with tax audits and dealing with authorities.
- Experience with transfer pricing and intercompany operations (preferred).
- ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, CONTPAQi, etc.).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- English: Intermediate (desirable, not mandatory).
