Domo Modular is a leading modular manufacturing and real estate development company in California, specializing in steel modular construction and sustainable modern building techniques. Privately held and not seeking venture funding, we are expanding manufacturing and seeking a Design Engineering Supervisor to join our team in Tijuana, Baja California.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and mentor the Design Engineering team; promote innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and implement engineering standards, workflows and best practices to optimize design-to-production cycles.
  • Align engineering objectives with company strategy and manufacturing capabilities in coordination with Engineering Management.
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles are applied from project start.
  • Observe manufacturing processes to standardize shop drawings and improve product/process quality.
  • Lead technical validation of New Product Introductions (NPI) to ensure designs are buildable with current tooling and meet specifications.
  • Verify compliance with applicable building codes (IBC/CBC) and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Prepare BOMs, drawings and specifications for Planning and Supply Chain to enable timely procurement.
  • Approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for accuracy and manufacturability; ensure shop drawings, BOMs and SWIs are production-ready.
  • Conduct Engineering Design Reviews (EDR) to mitigate risks before production.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to validate technical specs of raw materials and subassemblies.

Experiencia y requisitos

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering

Experience: 1-3 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing environments, with some experience in a supervisory role with direct reports. Experience in modular construction, automotive, or aerospace assembly lines is desirable.

Tech Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of CAD software (OnShape® / SolidWorks®), ERP systems, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Strong background in Problem Solving & Design for Excellence methodologies·        

Competencies: Leadership capable of managing diverse teams’ personalities (newbie creative designers vs. experienced engineers). Good understanding for budgeting and cost analysis. Ability to work under high  pressure in a fast-paced environment. Fluent bilingual in English and Spanish (Required); excellent written and verbal communication skills to present technical strategies to Engineering Management. Eligible to travel to the US.
